USS John W. Thomason DD-760 Association

Welcome to the USS John W. Thomason DD-760 Association

The USS John W. Thomason DD760 was a United States naval warship of the type commonly known as a destroyer. Many of the men who were assigned to these warships often referred to them as "Tin Cans" because the ships tended to bob around in the water much as an empty tin can does floating on a lake, hence we refer to ourselves as "Tin Can Sailors".

The USS John W. Thomason DD760 Association is comprised of the officers and men who served as part of the crew of the USS John W. Thomason DD760 at any time during her naval career (1945 to 1970), as well as the relatives and friends of these men. The Association provides a conduit for these former shipmates and families to keep in touch with each other, renew old friendships, make new friendships, and keep the history of the ship alive.

Shipmate reunions have been held every two years since 1998. Our most recent reunion was held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was an outstanding success.

A shipmate needs your encouragement.

We just received word that shipmate Conrad Streeter (BT3 1950-54) is suffering with leukemia. If you would like to send him a get well card we will forward it to him if you address it as follows:
